Hatty Koerner
[email protected] Hatty started drawing in college, sketching in the margins of her notes. She realized that much advanced knowledge is used to pull people apart. Art is one of the few things that creates a direct connection between the artist and viewer. Her artistic inspirations revolve around deviation; moss on roofs, mildew, spiky objects, and scat. Pale Male
Pale Male is a red tailed hawk that lives above a window at 927 Fifth Avenue, New York, near Central Park. He arrived in the city in 1991 as a juvenile and has lived there ever since. I saw Pale Male flying while visiting New York, and I was inspired by his ability to thrive in an urban area. By drawing Pale Male I feel I am getting closer to understanding humans’ ability to coexist with nature. |
"One night I dreamt of being a butterfly...suddenly I awoke and I could not tell whether it was I who had dreamt the butterfly or if the butterfly had dreamt of me."
